Ashland man in standoff arrested

The standoff between police and a 27-year-old man barricaded inside a South Mountain Avenue home ended at about 1:30 p.m. today when police arrested the man, according to Ashland Police Chief Terry Holderness.

The Medford Police Department SWAT team had been stationed outside the house in the 600 block of South Mountain Avenue since about 8 a.m. Ashland police arrived on the scene earlier in the morning.

A shot was fired from inside the home at 5:15 a.m., but no one was believed to have been injured, officials said.
