Three escape early-morning fire on Medford's west side

November 03, 2009 - 9:05 AM

Three occupants of a home on Medford’s Niantic Street escaped an early-morning fire that destroyed a bedroom.

Crews on four engines responded in seven minutes to the 4:28 a.m. call in the 1200 block of Niantic and quickly controlled the blaze, which had spread to about a third of the 1,000-square-foot house, battalion chief Mark Burns said in a news release this morning.

Damage to a bedroom is extensive, and some of the rest of the home was affected by the fire as well, Burns said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
