Beryl Rykken
Beryl Rykken, 95, died December 7, 2003 in Baker City. A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. May 28, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.
Beryl was born on in Denver, Missouri to Tom and Susan Timberman. In 1912, Beryl moved with her family to Ismay, MT. From Tusler, Mt, they moved to Musselshell, MT where she graduated from high school in 1927. On June 1, 1927 she married Clarence T. Rykken.
In 1935 Beryl, husband Clarence and their two daughters moved to Ashland. In 1937, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, where she was a very active member. While in Ashland she also was a Laubach Tutor for several years, worked in agriculture, and volunteered as an Assistant Director of activities at a nursing home.
After her husband Clarence died in 1982 she spent fourteen years as Foster Grandparent at Lincoln Elementary which was one of her most rewarding experiences. In 1997 Beryl moved to Baker City.

39;s 10 siblings, Katy Persons of Deer Lodge, MT survives. Beryl is also survived by her three children, Norman Rykken of Baker City, Helen Nelson of Toledo, OH and Betty Shepherd of Ashland. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Ashland.
