Ice Skating: The Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink, located at 95 Winburn Way, across from the Lithia Park playground in Ashland, is open for skating through February 2023. ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum: A variety of interactive science exhibits are available at the museum, located at 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. The interactive museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. Many exhibits will be modified to reduce touch surfaces — fewer hands-on activities — and increase physical distancing. Admission is $12.50, $10.50 for ages 2 through 12 and 65 and older, and free for kids under age 2, $3 for SNAP/Oregon Trail card holders. Music History Presentation: James Pagliasotti, first rock ‘n’ roll columnist for the Denver Post, where he covered music and counterculture from 1968 to 1974, will present “Growing Up When the Music Mattered,” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Shady Cove library, 22477 Highway 62. The classic era of rock ‘n’ roll music was a time of incredible creativity in the arts and in artful ways of living. It was also a tumultuous time, when struggles over civil rights, the Vietnam War, political assassinations, and gender equity sometimes made it seem the world was coming apart. Pagliasotti, who covered counterculture and music with press credentials and a backstage pass, will discuss this era in music and how it developed its own culture.
